mjm, I don't think that's completely right for two reasons. First, it was initially announced as three class. Second, it looks like maybe they contracted with QF to give the first class seating rights. If you do an class search, the availability only allows J and Y for Lan Chile, but allows F, J, and Y for the Qantas codeshare. Same happens for the SYD-AKL segment. I suspect this is for two reasons. First, LA doesn't sell all that many F seats to Chileans. On all my flights from the US, the upper cabins are over 75% Asian. Second, QF has rights between Australia and New Zealand, and so can sell the SYD-AKL/AKL-SYD segment, while LA I doubt could. It is a peculiar oddity, though.
