I have not had a problem with any Asian (KIX, HKG, DPS, SIN, BKK) or Australian (SYD, PER, DRW, ASP - BNE coming up) airport taxes that were included in the ticket and shown on the attached fare and tax breakdown (mine is taped to the last ticket's passenger coupon). There are some departure taxes that are collected in cash at departure time (e.g. BKK 500 bahts - about US$12). Chile seems to be the only place that insists on the tax being shown on the actual original ticket.
BTW, if you don't already have an Australian visa, try to get one before you leave the U.S. Otherwise, allow extra time at your point of embarkation for Oz to have the airline coordinate the issuance of an electronic visa. No visa on arrival issuance for U.S. citizens.
[Edited to fix the erroneous BKK departure tax info. Too many airports, too many currencies, too little sleep!]
