Handwritten Tix w/out Complete Tarriff Info: What Would You do?
Hi All,
As you may recall from my previous post, I am set to depart on the final 2/3 of a Oneworld Explorer on August 2. I waited until the ticket got down to sixteen segments until I had it re-issued so that I could ditch my handwritten tix in favor of printed ones. Despite the noble efforts of 3 AA agents in LGA, AA could not get the tix re-sissed w/out handwriting them again. As it is a complex itinerary, the fare and tarriff info did not fit onto the tickets and is now stapled to the front of the first ticket book. If I had a dot matrix printer, I could have printed out the same thing.
As I have already had to pay additional taxes in Chile as part of this ticket in March, I am afraid that more add/collects await me in Asia and Australia. As I think I have paid all the taxes I should have, I want to avoid this problem or the worse problem of being denied boarding due to some fault in the handwritten ticket (it seems easy to screw these up).
As such, I woudl like CX to take a stab at doing a re-issue, as it seems they are better equipped to handle large itineraries and provide printed tickets. There is a CX ticket office in Manhattan and I would like to have them do it. Of course, there are some problems with this.
1. AA has done all the work on the ticket and I am not sure that CX can takeover now.
2. I cannot spare a weekday to go down there and would prefer to handle a transaction through the mail.
3. It will cost more money (hopefully no more than $75).
Based on my situation and my concerns, what do you think i should do? Will Cx take over now? Are they willing to work through the phone and the mail? Do they even still have an office in NYC? Will it be more costly than I expect? Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks! You guys are the best.
