It is much faster to walk from T3 to T1 than take the Airtrain. If you do not need to go to the T3 baggage claim you can take the connector to T2 and then exit from there. Either way, T3 to T1 is a driver and a 5 iron away. Or for me it's a driver, 5 wood, and then a bladed pitching wedge.
