Mauritius is off-the-wall expensive, but it is very, very beautiful. Expect to spend $350-400 a night for a good hotel. It mostly a honeymoon destination. If you're going on business, stay near Port Louis, otherwise I can highly recommend Le Tousserok Hotel on the opposite side of the island. It has great beaches and its own private island. Takes about 75 minutes by taxi (about $55) from the airport. In terms of getting to the island, avoid Air Mauritius. Even in C, their service is poor, at best. If you have the option, take Singapore or South African.
