Comair, BA's related carrier, operates only between CPT, JNB and DUR, and into Victoria Falls and Windhoek. Otherwise, flights originate in London and cover a few major capital cities of former colonies. SAA used to have a marketing agreement with AA, but left for one with DL. Also has agreements with LH and Varig in STAR, and several other carriers.

Safety has been a prime consideration of the oneworld and STAR partners, and it is considered not many carriers not included meet their standards.

I also suspect the long time rivalry in the Pacific between CX and JL may also have something to do with the latter's not being all that welcomed.
