Despite what AA's web site says (no AA mileage for QF-coded flights operated by non-OW carriers), anecdotal evidence (reported by Spider here) suggests that QF-coded flights operated by Air Pacific do indeed earn AA miles the same way regular QF flights do. Thus, your cousin may want to sign up for a Gold (or Platinum, depending on whether her ticket is full Y or discounted) challenge with AA.
