I actually chose the middle bulkhead seat on purpose once, and it worked out quite well. The middle seat sits in between the two J seats, so I found it had a bit more sense of space as you can see forward into J. I'm smaller so didn't mind the wider armrest, and the space under me was decent, just the space in between the two seats.
