I just noticed the following wording under 1 MM and beyond in the Elite benefits page:

1 Million Miles and beyond
Qualify during 2011 and enjoy Premier Executive status for life at 1 Million Miles, Red Carpet Club membership for life at 2 Million Miles and 1K status for life at 3 Million Miles. Plus, get additional upgrades at each milestone.

This seems to indicate that existing 1MM will be grandfathered to 1P for life status. (Of course, we don't know what 1P will mean next year). Both Ms uyflyer and myself are 1K's MM's and would be looking for greener pastures if at the very minimum this does not mean *A gold. Unfortunately, uyflyer Jr is sitting at 730K PMUA Bis. Alas, we were hoping for him to reach 1 MM and *A gold for life before turning 18yrs old (at his present BIS accrual rate), but now all bets are off.
