For three years I commuted each week from London to Houston (in First), without any side-trips or US domestic on AA, that brings you pretty close to 20,000 points.
Just for comparison: If you did AMS-IAH r/t once per week in F on KLM you would earn enough service points (at least as a Europe 1 resident) for 39 years of RoyalWing membership, which for most people is at least close to lifetime status.
