The new CP resort Five Lakes in Essex supposedly opens in just over a week. They say they have a complimentary shuttle to the station, but who knows if that is right or not.
I live near CP Five Lakes, and it is in the middle of nowhere. I would estimate Colchester is around 10 miles to the north and Maldon maybe 6 miles to the south. Nearest station is Kelvedon, which I would guess is 4-5 miles away.
We did a little drive through of the car park a couple of weeks ago, and lots of building going on in the reception area. The hotel is set in huge grounds which incorporate golf courses and other leisure facilities. There are some nice coastal walks available nearby - Tollesbury, Mersea Island, Maldon.
The down side at the moment are the rates being quoted. Rates seem to start around £100, and the 2 for 1 link actually prices the rooms at full price first night, half price second.
Given the out of the way location, I'm hoping this property comes up on point breaks in the Autumn.
