For me, I am looking forward to have SWISS joining OW.

One reason: In order to earn miles on AA for transatlantic flights, my choices are limited. It's pretty much AA and that's it.

Aer Lingus has good service but limited flights and don't seem to offer good connections to the Continent.

Iberia? No.

Finnair? Again, good service but inconvenient to connect to the rest of Europe. For N. America, they only fly to JFK and YYZ.

SWISS offers very good service and a convenient hub in Zurich. They offer good connections to Europe and the Middle East.
