I can't speak for the efficiency of the AA RTW desk and I'm sure they do a great job but if you want a painless RTW ticketing process, use CX. All I had to do was call them, give them the itinerary (flight numbers and dates or open segments if that's what I wanted), wait for a fax with the rate which came in ~2 days, give them my credit card number and wait for the ticket, which arrived via fedex within a week! My original itinerary was 24 segments and it was all printed. I don't believe CX has a limitation on segments. CX is also a bit more lenient with the OWE rules.

Regardless of whether or not you use CX to ticket, their trip planner is invaluable. You'll find it on their website. It has the schedules for all OW partners and makes planning your RTW a snap!
