Basically you need to show your passport at check-in. Mostly they don't ask, but they have the right to. You need to show that you are a resident of a country outside the EU in order to use the Vist Europe Pass. Bear in mind that it might never happen - but if you cannot show any form of proof... the airline does have full rights to confiscate your Visit Europe Pass because you are using it against its rules.
