I am no expert on the various routing rules, but you might like to check out the Global Explorer fare vs the One World Explorer (see http://plaza.powersurfr.com/fewmiles...xplorer.html#1 for details).

My initial reading of GLOB fare is that it not limited to a number of segments in any particular region, just stopovers depending on the class/miles selected.

Another restrcition is multiple routing between the same city pairs is not allowed. I am not sure if this is the case if only in transit through one of those cites that is used as a regional hub (say DFW, LHR, SYD etc).

Worth checking out anyway as the rules do seem similar but different in the area of segments in a region.
