From worst to best;
- US has always been very bad experience. Been through MIA, MCO, TPA, JFK, ORD and SFO. Worst were MIA, JFK and ORD. Long lines, barking, rude agents etc. And in ORD air conditioning was broke, it was really hot and it took four hours to get thru. Going to USA reminds me every time how it used to be in good old Soviet Union.
- Egypt is almost Soviet like as US, but has improved a lot lately
- Morocco was also consulted by either USA or Soviet Union
- Brazil was ok, except for very long lines
- Caribbean Islands (Cayman, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, Aruba etc.) are all ok, except sometimes lines are long there too
- Thailand can sometimes take long due to long lines, but otherwise is ok
UAE is usually quite good. Lines can be a bit long sometimes
- China was actually very easy and crossing over to Hong Kong also a breeze
- UK is usually also quite easy (coming from EU with EU passport)
- Switzerland is also very much a piece of cake
- All EU countries are really easy
- other countries can't remember a lot, so they where probably ok
And couple thoughts. As said somewhere along this thread, US could improve the flow a lot if it introduced separate lines for ESTA/Visa Waiver. It would speed up the whole process for everyone and make entrance a lot easier for those, whose paper work is already in the system.
And talking about the systems. Last time in JFK they had to reboot their network three times while we waited. So giving them enough money to get proper IT infrastructure would probably help a lot too.
And finally, it's funny how entering USA always reminds me the good old days of Cold War. How long the lines where when going to Soviet Union and how you where treated like a criminal. How much they loved stamps and form. How they had so much manual work done and how they loved to check your bags. Only difference is you don't need to put cash between your passport.
