I just got my Emirates Skywards Gold Card a few months back and went through the process of getting the E-Gate enabled on it. I’m posting this because I could not find anything recent on this subject. I’m from the US and had no problem doing this. I planned on going to the Dnata travel center on Sheikh Zayed Road but I did not make it in time. I checked in at the Emirates business/first class area at DXB around 12:30AM. After I went through passport and security, I asked someone where I could get my E-Gate working on my card. He pointed to an Arab gentleman and said he can help you. The office is right there on the left corner after you go through the metal detectors. He took my card and passport, asked me few questions about where I worked and lived (not sure if he was just talking or if this is part of the process), then he took my picture and I was on my way. It took about 15 minutes. He said the card would work the next day. I tried it when I got back 2 weeks later and it worked, well kind of worked. They were having problems with the gate but there is a person there to help you. They will let you through after checking your card and passport. This saves a lot of time. I was stuck in line one time recently for 45 minutes early in the morning. Even the fast track is a little long sometimes.
