you could try routing from Australia to LAX via bangkok on Thai airways.
Forget completely trying to get four seats on the one flight exSYD on either Air Canada, United or Air New Zealand. Its just not gonna happen.
You MIGHT just be able to get 4 seats on air new zealand in business class to somewhere like China, but then getting from china to the states will be hard if not imporssible
Most seats on united are booked out by their own members well in advance of travel.
