I can easily make Silver by end of Dec, but probably not Gold. I certainly don't know the ins and outs of Delta, but what little I think I know tends to make me believe that Silver Medallion is worth about as much as a bucket of warm spit, what with all you Diamonds and Platinums and Golds already out there.
Earlier this year I had accumulated about 110,000 SkyMiles (big woo, I know) but after much trying, I was unable to book 2 SkyMiles Honolulu tix at the published 42,500 mile low tier cost. I finally gave up trying and cashed them all in for prepaid AmEx cards at 0.9 cpm.
Will someone in the know tell me what, if anything, is Silver actually good for. TIA.
I'm A List on Southwest and have had some business changes come up that will make it better to use Delta. So I contacted them about a status match to Silver. They approved and made me Silver immediately and I just have to have 8000 MQMs in 90 days which will be easy and give me silver through the end of 2012.
Just took my first Delta flight in this process today and was upgraded to F on my 3 hour flight. Also didn't have to pay for my bag.
So, for me, it's already been worth it.
