And if I am Saphire or Emerald with Quantas, then I still have to pay for the extra 20kg on the BA flight from LHR.
I must admit that I am very surprised that the Oneworld "alliance" has not harmonised their baggage policies...
The extra luggage allowance is indeed a big plus for Star Alliance one something which sets them apart from other alliances. In oneworld, you can get into the First Class lounges with status which Star Alliance doesn't allow but you don't get the extra bag. Having said this, some airlines in *A (like NZ) also don't offer any extra baggage allowance to *G on some of their fares.

Hopefully someone can give me some advice! I'm trying to book a Oneworld Explorer Economy (LONE?) with a leg from Santiago to Easter Island, and then Easter Island to Santiago.
I'm looking for a flight back from Easter Island to Santiago on either Saturday 5/11/11 (5 November 2011) or Sunday 6/11/11. On Expertflyer it is showing L class as available on both days:
LA842 - Saturday 5/11/11 (5 November 2011)
J9 D9 I6 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X0
LA842 - Sunday 6/11/11 (6 November 2011)
J9 D9 I9 Y9 B0 H0 K9 M0 L4 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0
But on the Oneworld online planner, it shows no flights available for those days (plus there are other dates where the data doesn't seem to agree).
Is there a reason why this is or this an error?

I'm really keen to go but availability is tough! Thank you!
Cheers
Anthony
edit: *also* I'm trying to select a flight SEA-ANC (Seattle to Anchorage) for middle of November. It's coming up all unavailable although there are plenty of flights with L tickets available!
L class is always a problem and a big minus for the OW RTW tickets. In *A they book into a much higher booking class which makes life easier. One of the reasons for this problem can be a point of sale issue. LA is often playing games by only making inventory available for their own Frequent Flyers or for POS Chile so other OW partners don't get anything. The only way would be to waitlist.
In regards to SEA-ANC: Most of the north-south flights on the west coast of the US are in fact AA flights operated by AS which can't be used on a xONEx. So getting from LAX to SEA gets complicated. If you really want to go to ANC try going via DFW or maybe ORD where AA has seasonal flights. L class can be an issue on those flights as well if you book close to the date.
