Surprised by this about Vietnam immigration. I've entered and exited Vietnam 5 times in the last 20 months, and think Vietnamese immigration are efficient and friendly every time I've dealt with them - I've even had smiles (not guaranteed anywhere in Vietnam).
So far, the nicest immigration systems I've encountered: China (quick and painless); Turkey (ditto); Australia (quick and friendly, with the great Aussie sense of humour); Brazil (they flirt with you too); Indonesia (always polite); Cambodia (helpful and smiling).
The worst: USA (sorry), with Washington DC and New York JFK being the absolute worst - Minneapolis and Newark seem to be the least offensive. Georgia - Tbilisi immgration (like almost anything in the country) is a shambles, which is a pity for a country with such tourist potential.
UK immigration is absolutely fine - I have experienced it with two different passports (UK and non-EU), and staff are always polite and efficient. The wait times are a different matter, however...
