Secret, unguarded entrance to T5 Galleries North?

Recently I was wandering around T5 as I was about to head over to T5C, and stumbled across what seems to be, at first glance, a "secret" but most importantly of all unguarded entrance to the Galleries North lounge. For the life of me, I cannot remember exactly what stores or restaurants are landmarks... I believe I walked pasted Giraffe or Zebra or some such. But on the gate level, if you walk along a narrow balcony-like area that looks down onto the actual gates, there is a staircase going up without any gates or signs. I wandered up, and thinking it was more shops or a restaurant, wandered onto what appeared to be the Club Terrace. I have only been to the Galleries North once, and then only briefly to have a quick look around, so I was not entirely sure.

Now, I am (was) permitted lounge access but thought going in through the back door uninvited might raise some unwelcome eyebrows. So I backtracked down the stairs, which I assumed at that point was an emergency exit and headed to dreary 5C.

Anybody else seen this before? It was remarkably easy to just wonder in...
