Hopefully she reported the bag missing and got the tracking number. However, in my experience, the tracking system is often only updated late in the process. I've had bags turn up at my hotel before the tracker thingy updates!
Absence of update on the tracker does NOT mean "bag still lost"!
In reality, once the bag is reported, you will have no better success than your daughter in following up. Customer Services are also reliant on the tracker system.
Frustrating? Yes. Sorry, but the (tough) answer is to simply be patient
