Don't count on your experience to be much easier with AA at SMF. My most recent experience with 21 segment rtw in February:
1) Went to local travel agent-- said sorry, we can't do it.
2) Went to ABQ airport early prior to another AA trip. Counter agent worked on it non-stop until shortly before flight departure. Said she had made progress, but not quite ready to issue. Assured me things would be straightened out by the time I landed at DFW.
3) Went to Platinum Service Center at DFW between flights. Experienced agents (2) worked for approximately 1 hour, thought they were close, but just couldn't get it over the finish line. One of them grabbed a cart and drove me to my gate so I wouldn't miss my connection.
4) Spoke to phone agent, he worked on it some more and said it would be ready for issue next time I went to AA.
5) The day after my arrival in Houston, went to CTO. Both agents spent 1 1/2 hours working on ticket, still couldn't do it.
6) Arrived back in ABQ, counter already closed.
7) 2 days later drove 70 miles back to ABQ, gave itinerary to agent. I said I would come back that afternoon to pick up.
8) 7 hours later, after doing some shopping in the city, came back to ABQ and ticket was finally ready.
