I lucked out in an op-up to F on a FRA-ATL flight in the very late 90s. The seats were roomy and had great recline but did not lay flat. Since this was a daylight flight, it didn't matter. The seat had a larger screen PTV than those in J, but it was the older style IFE which had a few channels of movies that were shown on a fixed cycle.

The meal service started with vodka and caviar followed by soup. I personally think soup on an airplane is not the best idea as with a little turbulence you could easily be wearing it. Salad followed, then the entree and dessert.

Notably, the cabin had quite a few open seats. At the end of the flight, the F/As offered the leftover tins of caviar to the pax.
