I know nothing about RTW'S!!!

Well. not nothing as i have been reading some threads, but maybe someone could help me out. What I am looking for is a mini-RTW, all i need is 4-5 stopovers. I live near T.O, but am willing to travel to NYC or somewhere to get started. I am going volunteering in India next summer so DEL is a must! I figured that I could spend just a little more money to get extra stopovers than a regular YYZ-DEL RT. So basically, I'd like 1 europe stopover (It would be probably LHR or CDG i assume) then on to DEL, from there I'd like a couple more stopovers in asia- any combination of BKK, HKG, PEK, NRT - i'm a little flexible and possibly LAX or YVR (not necessary though)
Would I be better off getting an alliance RTW, 2-carrier RTW, or some sort of consolidated one-way fares? I've looked into something like airtrek.com- how are these sort of dot.com companies? thanks to all.
Oh yeah.. depending on the price mileage accrual will be a pretty good factor as well!
