Sorry to hijack this thread, but do you get the promotional miles if you joined and took the flight during the promotion period, but then you registered for the promotion after the flight had been posted?
I'm not sure now.. but it used to be that you can apply for an Aeroplan membership # and phone up the airline to give you credit for up to a year.. recently I think its 30 days..
but that could have changed.. so I would double check that with AC
