Policy on use of banked $/e-credit changed?
I just tried to book a $480 domestic fare online using a $1300+ e-credit. It took me all the way to the Purchase screen, showed me the remaining balance of $800+ on the new e-credit, then gave me an error that I had to call in. After a couple more calls, I finally got to the manual re-issue desk.
She was very helpful, but told me now they do not allow use of the e-credits for a lower fare than was originally booked, and that is before the $250 international change fee on non-refundable.
So my original flight was $1600-ish, less $250 for the $1350 e-credit. But to use the e-credit by April 2012 I have to book a fare for at least $1600.
Are they out of their minds? This wasn't the case before, and online still almost lets you complete the transaction. Anyone else experience this?
