I applied for (and received) the personal and business visa cards in 7/2010, and was denied the personal amex in 10/2010. [Jumped too quickly on the offers when they came out, before the optimal procedure had been worked out. Live and learn.] Cancelled the two cards in 5/2011. This is in fact the only time I've had the Citi AA cards.

With the above history, what timing would folks suggest? I'd like to apply again, and would be willing to try more than once. The question is, does an unsuccessful application reset the timer, or is it plausible that I could be denied in 9/2011 and then succeed in 1/2012?
