Last year and through this winter QF4 operated from YVR-(HNL)-SYD with a change of planes in HNL(I believe SYD-YVR was QF5). The service was on two 767's with the one from YVR returning to YVR after dropping off passengers in HNL and the SYD one returning to SYD. The prices for HNL-YVR were quite good considering the competition on this route with Canada 3000. Now it appears that AC is operating the YVR-HNL portions of the YVR-(HNL)-SYD route.

Not quite right.

Prior to July 2000, QF would operate Australia (or more specifically, SYD)-HNL while CP would operate HNL-Canada (YVR & YYZ) with both codesharing. After the codesharing was terminated, both airlines operated their own service between Canada & Australia.

QF operated 2x weekly to YYZ and 3 or 4x weekly (IIRC) to YVR while AC/CP operated daily from YVR and YYZ to HNL with one of the a/c continuing to SYD.

QF dropped the YYZ service in favour of a codeshare on AA between LAX and YYZ and boosted YVR-HNL-SYD service to 5x weekly. Now it's been dropped completely.

Noteworthy news:

FJ commenced 2x weekly 738 service to YVR (continuation of NAN-HNL service) in late 2000 (think it was October). In addition to Canada 3000/2T (now a AAdvantage participant), Air Transat (TS) also operates the HNL-YVR route.
