The mini-bar is a whole other level of rip-off. I've found that room service prices are reasonable (at least relative to the hotel restaurant), although I resent the delivery charge. The tip is only slightly more obnoxious than the automatic service charge some restaurants add. The mini-bar, however, is just totally ridiculous. I don't even open them now because a lot of them have a sensor that seems to alert the hotel if a single bottle moves when you open it.

I sometimes get room service, but generally prefer to eat out. When I travel with my daughter and have a sitter, it's helpful.
