This question is for all the people who have used a RTW ticket or are about to use one.

Do you use it for going "round the world" or is it for the miles and status.

Though these fares do not exist anymore, $2900 would have given you a 3 Continent ticket from US.

A 50K - 75K base mile accumulation is the average for this kind of trip. For the same time period, following are the fares I have seen from the east coast.

~ 250 European Destinations = 10K Base miles
~ 500 HKG, SIN = 15K Base miles

Taking the higher limit,

75K = 10K x 8 = $250 x 8 = $2000
75K = 15K x 5 = $500 x 5 = $2500

Would you not have a cheaper alternative with more flexibility if you did it like this. Or am I missing something here.

P.S. The closest bang to buck ratio comes with drbala's Indian option ~Rs 88,000 = ~$1750 after commision rebate. But then again, you have to go to India to do it, +$ 1250. Ends up being the same thing.
