IMHO, email is a massively inefficient way to rely on updates to FlyerTalk threads. I begin 99% of my multiple-times-daily FlyerTalk browsing experience at MyFlyerTalk; it's far faster and far more up-to-date.
It is very helpful if you are by the computer. I check my emails and updates mainly on my phone and review all the new topics to see if anything is interesting there to follow up.
