Name/ID Mismatch Question
Hello members of the UA/CO forum, I am posting here as this pertains to a reservations issue with continental.com however if the mods think it would be more appropriate in TS&S or a different forum please move it there.
I booked an international partner award reservation last month through Continental.com, flying to Rome via Lufthansa and returning via Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic. At the time of the booking I was asked for my full name as it appears on my ID and provided my first name as "Jeffrey", which is what is shown on my passport.
I noticed two days later that my award booking confirmation said "Jeff" and immediately called Continental reservations. The agent said that while the reservation was for "Jeff", the TSA SecureFlight information was for "Jeffrey" and therefore I would be fine.
Today, I called back to make a change to the itinerary, and asked today's agent to confirm what the earlier agent had said. This agent confirmed that the SecureFlight said "Jeffrey" but said that she thought it could be a problem. But she also said that changing it would be difficult due to the partner award. She put me on hold to speak to a supervisor and came back several minutes later saying that the supervisor didn't pick up the phone, but that I'd "probably be fine since everyone knows that Jeff is Jeffrey". I asked if my ticket would print out as "Jeff" or "Jeffrey" and she said "Jeff", to which I wondered if the TSA would let me through security.
Has anyone had a similar experience with the continental website? I believe the problem is that my FF account under "Jeff" as I made it many years ago before this was an issue. What are the chances that I'll make it through OK, or should I call back again and press harder to speak to a supervisor and see what my options are?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
