I am afraid that since you originated in YYZ, are changing your first international flight and it is after your ticketing deadline of 7 days, that you will have to pay the 10%.
Under "Cancellations and Refunds-after ticketing deadline-changes to first international flight and preceding flights are never permitted." Therefore you can not move or change the date, time or routing of the first International flight or any flights before it. FYI Canada - USA is not international according to these rules. Your first Int'l flight is therefore NA-SA or NA-Asia etc.
The next thing that would affect you is "Cancellations - before departure/after ticketing deadline (which you are) - cancellation - origin area 1 (that's Canada/USA I don't know what others) - 10 percent of ticketed amount."
But again, I would SERIOUSLY consider explaining the situation to an AA agent. They are really able to do whatever they want whenever they want. They will see that the ticket is very flexible and may work with you in that respect. They may even just put a sticker on your first coupon, label it a reroute and put you on the next flight out.
Technically the only thing that is not flexible on that ticket is the first beginning segs until the first International departure. Give it a shot before you give AA another $500 or more.
