2 options for you,
1. pay 10% penalty to re-issue the ticket (since you already passed the 7 day deadline, otherwise it would be free)
2. it is againt airline rule and there is a risk that it won't work. but you can try, skip the first segment, go to NYC and tear away your first coupon.
