Checking in at airport 40 minutes later I'm told "here's your boarding pass for MHT-ATL, you're confirmed on standby for the 1110 and 1230 flights ATL-DFW. I asked what happened to my confirmed F seat on the 1110 and got the deer in the headlights look followed by "someone must have given it away" and "unfortunately there's nothing I can do and all flights today ATL-DFW are full so you're standby on all flights.

With a long line behind me I took my boarding pass, went through security, then called Delta CS. Explained situation, was put on hold, and after several minutes was told that I was now confirmed on the 1110, but in middle seat lasta row of coach. Not thrilled, but was an upgraded seat originally and the flight WOULD get me to DFW in time for meetings.

Landed in ATL, had email from AMEX (corp travel) that my 150pm flight to DFW was confirmed! 150? went to 1110 gate and discovered that no, indeed I was on the 1110 (and in fact was upgraded right as I got to front of line at counter).

SO.... got to DFW in time. Got their in First. BUT..... WHY DID MY SEAT GO AWAY and WHY WAS I PUT ON STANDBY?!

thoughts? not looking for compensation.... ended up at my destination on time AND surprisingly enough in First, but shouldn't Delta do some explaining?

side note: Hertz didn't have a car ready for me either because AMEX told them I'd be getting in at 3 due to the flight change. No bigggie.... cars were available. but NOT the way I wanted my week to start!
Start with your corporate TA. Amex should get you a full explanation of what they did and why & what happened. That's what they get paid to do. And, if nothing else, they will watch your travel more carefully in future.
