I agree, in F you shouldn't have to press the button, proactive offering should be done.

On Cathay LAX-HKG the FAs walk through multiple times in the dead of night. Sometimes just walking so you can quietly flag them down (which I do), and other times with a tray of cups and a jug of water or tea. It's quiet (certainly quieter than ringing a call button at 4 am) and non-disruptive to sleeping pax (far less disruptive than body surfing over your sleeping neighbor). This is in Y too.

I can certainly appreciate the job of a FA is a job of contrasts. Busy times boarding and serving and then periods of down time. Playing cards is tacky but I can understand reading something or using your iPad, just get up every 15-20 minutes.
