I dont know when has this posting method changed because if they are used as credit cards, the posting usually take a few days - at least that is how it works in previous months.
UPDATE:
Did another 5 Non PIN transactions today at the old type of card swipe machine at Walgreen. They already show as pending at Chase Online - so now it does post immediately even they are Non PIN transactions.
OTOH, Chase confirms that now it does not matter whether it is Signature (Non PIN), or PIN transactions, 5 of such each statement cycle would automatically waive the $12 monthly fee.
Below is the SM reply I got:
The following are the ways to avoid the service fee on
your account.
Link to an owner's personal Premier Plus, Premier
Platinum, Platinum or grandfathered Premier
Link to an active business credit card/charge card in good
standing
Maintain $5,000 average ledger balance
5 or more Point of Sale debit card purchases (signature or
PIN) during monthly checking statement cycle; ATM
withdrawals do not count
Note that with DBA Business Account, the Direct Deposit is not even an option to allow fee waiver.
I will continue to do the 5 debit card transactions each month as it carries both the DBA Business Checking and a Grandfathered Personal Premier Checking which in turn entitle Freedom to earn extra bonus points.
