And all of this happened to everybody on that flight, not just me. The cabin crew even advised us to preserve the boarding pass stub to be displayed while deplaning! I don't think anyone can deny there is great redundancy and duplication of efforts at all Indian airports, albeit to varying extent.

I have flown once from IXB. It is a MILITARY airport which is also open to civilian airport traffic, and located in a very sensitive region. What do you expect? It's like flying out of Edwards airforce base. They will probably strip search you every single time.
