I couldn't see Iris in T2 back in July and had to go through the epassport gates. They were a nightmare as people just can't follow simple instructions/use any common sense and stand there totally bewildered by it all.
Oftentimes the IRIS gates work like that as well, with idiot unregistered kettles trying eleventy dozen times and still wondering why it doesn't work
