Whilst living in the home and hub of Star Alliance's flagship carrier might make it the most reasonable choice for your travel, and sticking to *G status a necessity, I would also give BA a look if you can sign up with an address from continental Europe. BA and QF both fly to London and have numerous flights daily, and you might find achieving status a lot easier.

I would calculate how many miles you are looking at racking up, in what classes of travel, and see where that will take you status-wise with BA and SQ. You might also want to look at DC or M&M, it will all depend on your travel pattern.

Also, with AC *G you might want to see if BA will match that when then run some sort of status-match promo.
