If you put an alternative airline partner into the Hilton booking system it will keep that and credit the points to them, irrespective of your preferred partner, unless you get the receptionist/lounge dragon to change it.

As mentioned above, if you leave the dropdown and the number box blank when booking, the system will then successfully pull the preferred partner from your profile on check-in.
