Nor do I... I get the feeling BA's procedures are pretty strict about this...

and I should add that in the case of my colleague I didn't ask for him to be upgraded, I was just commenting, when the CSD came over to introduce himself, that I was very lucky on this flight but that I had been separated from my colleague. It was the CSD who pro-actively said 'I'll see what I can do...' - way beyond the call of duty and very unexpected :-:
