the ba comment is not true based on my experience. i have most definitely put in different numbers for differing segemnts. this is commonplace for us aa plat's that need miles within europe for our aa acounts, while we cannot post transaatlantic ba flights to those same accounts. it worked fine for me during the promotion last fall. i do make sure that i check the ff numbers at every transit point, however.
