I was recently in a UA reroute situation, and UA wanted to put me in CO Y (flights were F0 Yx). Seeing that the upgrades were not likely, and I didn't want to endure CO's rock hard Y seats, I made up some excuse about the connect time in IAH being riskly, and they offered up a US flight, which I accepted.

I've had some US IRROPS, and all have been handled efficiently, according to *A rebooking policies, and most importantly, to my satisfaction. They've let me swap airports, routings, etc., in IRROPS situations to get me moving. Sadly, I do not have the same track record with CO.
