I have done that on occasion. I remember my first business trip in my career- I was in the middle of studying for actuarial exams and typically employers give you time to study during work hours- in my case it was an hour a day. (They recommend at least 300 hours of study in the 6-month period leading up to each exam and even then the pass ratios at the time were 30-40%.) I spent a week reviewing business in our Watertown, NY office and every morning I had room service deliver breakfast so I could study for an hour, then joined my team in the office. I've also had to join teleconferences while attending conferences or seminars and had a meal delivered to the room. Sometimes the convenience makes it worth the extra cost. (And I did pass the exam for which I was studying.)
