This is definitely one of the advantages of AA. They do give status bonus to all 1w flights.

On BA, they give status bonus to BA, AA (non-transatlantic), and QF flights. However, QF bonus is only temporary. Apparently, it was a misprint in the information, but they are honoring QF bonuses until the problem is rectified.
