Drats. The big downside to the e-passport gates is for passengers with non-EEA passports but who have visas to be in the UK. We could enrol in IRIS (if we could find an open enrolment centre), but the e-passport gates are restricted to EEA passports. I guess given this government's restrictive take on immigration, it shouldn't be surprising that the UKBA would not be doing things to make us welcome.
