Response from Swiss
I got my reply from Swiss this morning (after a bit of help from Swiss Lurker) and I was a little surprised by thei response.
Quote from the letter :
"such flight irregularities are considered extraordinary circumstances where the carrier is exempt from any liability for additional costs incurred to the customer. Thus, according to international airline regulations, Swiss cannot be held responsible for such flight irregularities.
In case of cancellation, we rebook our passengers onto alternative transportation. So, you were rebooked onto the next flight with Swiss LX395 to Zurich that same day. In doing so, we met our obligations. "
My understanding is that the EU regulations were in addition to this, and I specifically quoted the regulations in my letter. Have I misunderstood or are Swiss trying to get away without meeting the regulations?
Any idea of who I should contact or do I just write back to Swiss?
Many thanks
